Young Girl Wearing Crocs Suffers Injury on Escalator

Aug 1, 2008 1:43:00 AM

Recently came across an article in the New York Daily News about a $7 million lawsuit filed against the manufacturer of Crocs - the trendy and wildly popular clog-type shoes sold in bright colors. The suit was filed on behalf of a 3-year-old girl who was wearing a pair of pink clogs when one got caught in an escalator at John F. Kennedy Airport and chewed up her big toe (see additional media coverage here).

Apparently, there have been numerous such accidents involving young children. As such, parents should be vigilant about watching young children wearing Crocs when riding escalators.

In response to complaints about Crocs getting stuck in escalators, Japan's Trade Ministry has asked the company to look into changing the design of the shoe (hat tip to the Torts Prof Blog).
